Mark Hylton – Our Leagues Own Professional Darts Player.

Back in the Summer of 2008 Mark Hylton was seeking sponsorship so that he could progress his career in the world of darts. At the time I was playing in the Prince Of Wales team on Monday nights, the same as he was. After a few chats I suggested building him a little web-site which I did, saying that it would get him some more attention and act like a C.V. for his darting career. I did say he might even get a sponsor from it. Within a few weeks of setting up the web-site Mark told me he had approaches from one or two sponsors. I was told to delete the web-site I had set up and he had a proper commercially designed and built site put on the web because of his new sponsor deals. From that day on he hasn’t looked back with continued and growing success. After joining the P.D.C. and turning Pro he is steadily moving up the rankings and jetting all over the world to play in various competitions.

Mark has just completed a particularly hectic few weeks. The following is a report that he posted on the Rugeley Monday Night Darts League Guest book;- 

August 24th 2010 Mile High
Thank you for the good comments chaps! Am in the Emirates departure lounge waiting to get back to England b4 flying out to Canada Friday. Over the moon bout last comp. Made me believe I can mix it with the best. Thought me dad good at 60, Priestley is a legend and an inspiration. Have been mentioning the Rugeley league to the Ozzies and always advertise it when asked where and when I play! Have been in this league for 29 years now and I hope that I can inspire players to knuckle down and go for it! Looks like I may make the T.V. World finals and will always realise my darting roots! To all u doubters and knockers u shud get behind any Rugeley bred people whatever sport or event they r in!!!! Roll on Canada!!!! Just like to dedicate my performance to me dad who without I wud not be doing what I am! And of course to Callum Harris my manager for making this possible!!!!!!!!!

It’s great to know that Mark remembers the league where he came from and promotes the Rugeley League when he can. He has come in for a lot of unkind comments on the Guest Book in the past from one or two players who were jealous of his growing success, but now that he has really made the grade, even they are starting to show a little well-earned respect. Septic Peg posted most of nastiest comments, but recently he said this;- “Credit where credit is due. Well done Mark hope your success continues.”

I think those sentiments go for everybody in the Rugeley League and as of the 5^th September Mark was 103 in the P.D.C. rankings, moving up in the players Order of Merit and expected to be higher in the Players Championship rankings.
