Record
Darts Attempts.
A
few months ago, darts legend Phil Taylor, stated on TV, that the greatest darts
challenge still remaining to him, was to be the first player to hit two 9 dart
501 games in one match. Phil, being Phil, didn’t take long to achieve the
seemingly impossible in the Whyte & Mackay Premier League Final as he won
the trophy and £125,000.
Going
back to my early darting life it was really something if one pub league player
hit one 180 in the course of a season and the Professionals were only just
starting to occasionally hit the first few televised 9 dart 501’s. Nowadays it
is a case of how many 180’s the better pub league players hit in one season
and who knows, it may come to pass that Phil has set the trend for the very top
pro’s to hit multiple 9 darters in the course of one competition! For the
moment though, Phil’s new record achievement stands, but one record that Phil
is hoping will be broken on October 21st is for the largest number of
people playing darts at one time for charity. The P.D.C. along with Phil are
backing the attempt to raise funds for the charity SignHealth that operates on
behalf of deaf people. The DEAFinitely darts event is a mixture of record
attempt and fund raiser, but also thrown in for good measure, entrants can win a
variety of prizes including a £4,000 team prize and a trip to the Bahamas for
the winning team event organiser. There is of course a web-site with entry details etc
that can be found on the following link;- www.deafinitelydarts.org.uk
