League Draw Tables.

 

To run a Round Robin within the pub or even to run your own darts league it is necessary to have a set of league draw tables. It is possible to work them out yourself but to get the home and away draws correct is very difficult so to make things easy for you I include a full set of tables for 5 to 16 teams. The tables are formulated for an even number of teams but for an odd number simply change one of the numbers throughout the table to a bye. When using the tables decide how many teams you have to accommodate in the league, list them and then place a number by the side of each team. Then select the appropriate table and replace the numbers with the teams names next to each number.

If there are 2 teams from the same venue in the same league you have to allocate these teams one of the paired numbers. This will prevent both teams from drawing a home match at the same time. Two teams from the same venue in different divisions can be accommodated in the same way with paired numbers as long as there is the same number of teams in both divisions. Three teams from the same venue would necessitate having two teams at home at once as would 4 teams. Also of course in a league it is usual to reverse the fixtures for the second half of the season. This means that all of the "home" games become "aways" and all the "away" games become "home" matches. (The tables for 6 & 8 teams are already reversed.) A very small league consisting of 5 or 6 teams may consider playing each team 3 times instead of just twice as normal. This would mean that the "third half" would be the same draw as the "first half," thus giving 15 matches to the season instead of 10 games.
