 The Sponsor

My name is Alan Hartley I am 52 years old and have been playing darts locally for just over 30 years. As a teenager the first pub I played for was The Plum Pudding in Armitage in the good old days when it was a bikers pub full of Hells Angels. After a couple of years there, I played at the Red Lion in the town followed by the Castle in Brereton. One season I played for the Comet on the Springfields which has long since gone. Then for some years I played for the Power Station on and off. More recently I played for the Rugeley British Legion, Libby's in the same road opposite the Legion and now the Prince Of Wales.

During the time I was playing in Rugeley I also played on a Wednesday in the Weston Trent Valley Darts League for the Fox and Hounds for about 15 years, then the Greyhound at Colton for some 12 years or so, a year at Great Haywood Club and one season at the Wicket. I also played in the Cannock League on a Friday night for a number of years for the Hazelslade, the Uxbridge Club and on a Sunday for the Rugeley British Legion. For several years I  played in one of the Stafford Leagues for the Bear & Pheasant and one season for the Stafford British Legion.

I was League Secretary for the Weston Darts League for over 6 years (13 seasons) and ran a web-site for the league for 3 years. About 4 or 5 years ago I started to help Graham Jellyman with the fixtures for the Rugeley Monday Night Darts League and then built a web-site for them which is having great success with the number of hits still increasing and now reaching up to 1000 hits or more per week.

Some years ago I started writing short articles on Fish-keeping for a column in a "Free Newspaper" which led me to write a number of short books that can be bought in paperback form at £4.99 from myself or from some local shops/garden centres. The books cover a diverse range of topics from fish-keeping to darts (of course) as well several semi-biographical type tales as told by local people. The range also includes two very rude joke books (some of the jokes can be found on my web-sites) as well as a couple of books of poems produced by other people.

Another of my hobbies is building Fun Web-sites. Perhaps I could build one for you for a small fee or maybe even for free if you are a charity case!!!???
